Very cute and clever save-the-date video.
Recently, many people have been asking me about the etiquette of hosting an engagement party.
“Do I have to have one?”
“Should an engagement party be formal or casual?”
“Do I only invite guests who I intend to invite to my wedding?”
Read my etiquette guidelines on engagement parties at:
Love this lego proposal in stop motion! So clever.
Cassie, recently married in Sydney, described her wedding day in an online article on Find It For Weddings disclosing her regret about not hiring a wedding planner.
“I was so concerned about making sure everything was unfolding correctly, checking on this, and checking on that. I didn’t realize how much there would be for me to do on the actual wedding day, until there I was and different vendors were coming up to me constantly with different issues that were arising. It was kind of alarming… it didn’t fit the picture I had of being this relaxed bride, just enjoying her wedding.” She continued by saying, “I thought I could…

For many brides, one of the most important parts of wedding planning is choosing that perfect dress. But it can be tough to know what to do with your gown after the big day has come and gone. If you’re stumped for a reuse idea for your wedding dress, why not try recycling it for a cause?
DonateMyWeddingDress.org provides a list of nonprofits that accept wedding dress donations and use the profits to benefit those in need. The dress that meant so much to you can soon mean a world of difference for earthquake victims in Haiti, military brides-to-be, breast cancer patients and more.
So, how does it work? First, choose from five nonprofits to donate your wedding dress. Brides for Haiticonsigns used wedding dresses to benefit missionary work in Haiti. Brides Across America donates wedding dresses to military brides, while St. Anthony’s Bridal provides free dresses to low-income brides. To help make dreams come true for underprivileged kids and terminal breast cancer patients, choose Bridal Garden orBrides Against Breast Cancer.
Drop-off locations for wedding dress charities are set up in Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Oregon, or simply take your dress to one of the hundreds of Goodwill locations across the country. If you can’t personally drop off your dress, send it by mail to the charity of your choice.
Before you mail or deliver your gown, charities request that you take it to the dry cleaners or clean it yourself at home. If your gown isn’t silk or taffeta, you can probably wash it in your home washing machine, but check the care instructions to be sure. And avoid putting your dress in the dryer. Hang it to dry instead.
Note that some charities only accept gowns that are less than six years old and in good condition. Check the Website of the charity you chose to see if there is an age requirement and for all procedures to follow to make your donation.
If you’re shipping your dress, send it in the smallest box possible to decrease shipping costs and emissions and to ease the charity’s burden in disposing of large boxes.

In Australia, the average wedding costs $28,000 (Barrymore, 2010). This figure doesn’t include pre-wedding events such as the engagement party, buck’s night, and the hen’s party or post-wedding expenses such as the honeymoon. In New South Wales, the average amount couples spend on a wedding with these additional costs included tips the scales at $48,296 (Bride To Be, 2011). Comparable purchases at this price would be a car or a significant amount of savings towards a down payment on a house. On large purchases such as a car, people buy insurance and when house hunting they may hire a buyers agent. So why wouldn’t couples consider hiring a wedding planner to avoid costly mistakes and ensure their big day is perfect?
